Description

The small grill replacement thermometer by Tel-Tru has a 1.75 inch dial face and 2.13 inch long stem and will replace the stock unit on your grills hood. It has a temperature range from 100 up to 700 degrees and will easily fit into any 1/4 inch hole, wing nut included. Made in the USA Tel-tru model number BQ100

If you are looking to replace the stock thermometer on your grills hood you need to consider some important measurements. First is the size of the face and the best way to do this is to remove your existing grill hood thermometer and measure across the hole in the bezel that it came out of. Like most grill hood thermometers this thermometer will not sit flush against the hood and the bezel not only makes it look better it also stabilizes the face. This Tel-tru grill replacement thermometer has a 1 3/4 inch dial face. A version with a larger dial can be found here

The next thing to consider is the length of the threads on the back of the thermometer. This is to ensure that they are long enough to be able to tighten the nut. when you install the new one. Simply measure the threads on your existing thermometer for this. It is acceptable for the threads of your replacement to be long but not short.  The threads on this Tel-tru grill replacement thermometer are just under 3/4 of an inch long.

The final thing to consider is the length of the probe. The stem length on this one is 2.13 inches. That measurement is from the thermometer back including the threads.

To remove your old grill hood thermometer: Raise the hood of your grill and look at it from underneath. On most grills you will be able to see the thermometer stem and nut. Find the appropriate tool to loosen the nut and while putting slight pressure on the dial from the outside turn. Once it is a little loose you can hold the nut by hand and turn the dial from the outside to remove it all the way.

Installation of your new Grill Replacement Thermometer

If you took your measurements right, installation is as easy as placing your new thermometer into the hole and tightening up the wing-nut from the back. It only needs to be hand tightened. Before you fully tighten the nut make sure the face of the thermometer is straight up and down and apply a little pressure to the face when making that last turn.
